I really enjoy this style of game, but it was obscenely slow. The challenge came when I was at the top, dead-ended, having to backtrack through the maze to get to a route that wasn't blocked off. If it were faster, and the dead-ends absent, people may enjoy the game more. It's more of an analytical game at the moment, and less one of skill.

BenTibbetts responds:

OK. Thank you for your detailed comment.

I'm sure this game would be amazing if I could play it on my machine. Can we get some "quality" options so that it will run on poorer peoples' computers?

Invenis responds:

Unfortunately this is the way it is. You need 3D support for this game.

I understand your intentions with the controls;

-but because everything else moves so quickly, the game is virtually unplayable. I do feel out of control, like the guy tripping, and unfortunately for him, it ends in him dying a lot.

I love the graphics and the music, but if it's a broken game, it's a broken game.

DreamEater responds:

Thanks for your feedback Corvett!
You have a very good point my friend :p

It would be great, but

There's no way to clear what you've already drawn without leaving and re-selecting the level.

ShaunsFlashGames responds:

It's quite esey.

This game seems impossible...

It's so rare to get gems in the outer periphery that are close enough to others that match, I can't even get remotely close to beating the first level. I like the concept, but maybe there are too many colors or something.

I love everything else. I absolutely love the music, the graphics, the way the whole thing is presented. I'm just not sure it's possible to even play.

MoonberryStudios responds:

You can move any gem with at least one free space around it, to ANY free space near other 2 gems of the same color, even if they're across the board.

I'm sure there's no state where you can't make a move. But if you find one, please post a screenshot.

As fun as this is...

Everything is destroyed by the lack of good controls. It is frustrating beyond measure that you can only shoot in the direction (or away from the direction) that you are going, that you can't stop, and there there are only 4 directions to move in. This makes it near impossible to aim at the stupid red and orange guys that can easily outmanuver your shots. I made it quite a ways through the game, so it is playable, but just barely.

Some other upgrades would be nice too. A spread shot, maybe, or the ability to add to each of your individual stats.

theta4 responds:

Believe me: I tried long and hard to think of the best control scheme. I tried various mouse and keyboard combinations, but decided this was the best. Everything else was just basically clicking on the enemies, which I thought took the challenge out of the game. Besides, when we're all flying around in space 50 years from now, our laser weapons will be fixed to the front of our ships, right? :)

The 4-directional thing is the fastest-reacting set of controls, and maintains the arcade feel of the game.

The red and orange guys have really retarded AI. They'll follow behind you for a while, bail out, then follow behind you some more.

I know it's called "One Chance"

-but really, replayability has something to be said for. I understand you're trying to make a point, but I don't think it's worth sacrificing gameplay for. If there was music, I may take you more seriously with this game.

AwkwardSilenceGames responds:

I respect the marmite argument for replayability, people are either going to think its really cool, or annoying as shit.

But "if there was music"?

You might need to turn your speakers up bro.

Controls

Should make a game worth playing and feel natural, not make me want to strangle you. Look at the game Lint for a good example of wall-jumping intuitive controls. Here, it was just obnoxious.

I-smel responds:

I don't get how controls can be obnoxious

Controls

I love how simple it is, but because of how fast the camera moves, it's near impossible to keep clicking an enemy - please make an attack button instead of clicking.

LunaDrift responds:

yeah... the controls can be a bit awkward. try moving with the keyboard and see if that helps

Umm...

Graphics? Gradients are not that creative and look kind of tacky. Maybe try coming up with a graphic theme/setting, and create a background for it as well.
Music? It makes a game feel more professional. Choose something that won't get annoying over time though.

I think this game is neat, it just lacks professionalism. That's what makes or breaks these games that there are eight million of out there. People play the most professional feeling ones.

Rehtael responds:

really? a 4?
well thanks for the constructive critique anyways
