Mute button?

I know it's not a big review, but please add a mute button. Thanks.

Coaly responds:

Wow it's in there, seriously I'll update the comments if people can't find mute buttons. I even made it so you can just press m.

Good for a first game...

But this was extremely gimmicky, not well designed as far as visual aesthetic goes, and just overall... seems a little unprofessional. Maybe a greater level/planet ratio and a level select screen. Try to be consistent with the room views - I understand how you're trying to make the game challenging, but there are other, less frustrating challenges to use.

SyndromeGames responds:

Okay, people said this was a useless review. Screw them, thanks for the input! as far as the graphix are conserned, I am going to do a collab with an artist! (WOOT)

5201lbs!

maybe have the corpses fade out or something? The screen got very cluttered very fast.

domreinalabaster responds:

I like seeing all the gibs on the ground. It's fun.

I thought it was a Phoenix clone

And then I realized it was a lame one. Graphics need a TON of work, as does the level design as a whole. Everything feels very unprofessional, and its really not pulled off very well. You've got good gameplay and music going for you, but I think the former is inherent in all games of the genre.

It's got loads of potential. Just try a little harder.

hypnoticgames responds:

thank you for this comment and thanks to everyone else who played yes it is unprofessional as are most first games. shooter style games are easy to do when you know nothing so this was a learning experiment our next game i hope will be alot better so keep an eye out for it

It's a start

But some things are a little extraneous. It's generally unprofessional to have useless toys to show off with on the homepage. I'd get rid of them. The design is very generic, but its a start. Take off with it! Remember, professionalism is what sells. Don't add any cheese =)

musbah responds:

you are right but i just made that for fun i was just too bored. Thanks for the review though i ll try and make it look better.

It's good but...

Still, there are parts that are highly unprofessional. The music and graphics (mostly) look great, but the walls are uneven, the text is all hand-drawn and looks, to be blunt, bad.

I like where this is going; I really do. Just replace all the text with real text; hand-drawn stuff looks sloppy in this setting. But other than that, keep up the good work. I hope to see more!

Emby responds:

I don't really take my time on the walls, I admit it. I should put more time into it, yes. I hand write text that is suppose to be over dramatic looking. When it's typed, it looks kinda boring, in my opinion. Heh, but this is really the first time I've included some typed stuff.

Thanks for the review, and the constructive(!!) criticism!

An RPG?

You took me by surprise with that one. Sonic is usually a platformer. You're breaking new grounds! (haha, I crack myself up). Ok, here goes:
-Music is very loud, and still much softer than the battle sound effects. Look into balancing everything to a closer level, and a softer one.
-During the cut scene, the buttons are very... well, we made stuff that looked like that in a High School class. Maybe put an arrow on it, keep it in the same spot every time, shoot for some design and consistancy. While its great to change designs slightly between characters, you don't have to invert everything. The massive character picture (It's not a bad thing, trust me) makes the speaker obvious, and you don't need the whole dialogue window design to change as well.
-Battle was very one dimensional. Maybe have intelligent enemies - ones that use stronger attacks at the beginning and weaker ones after you're damaged, or the other way around, to make battles interesting. There are many ways to mix up a boss in a battle, simply by planning his attacks. Be creative, not random, with it.

I can see you put a lot of effort into this game, and I admire your dedication. This game shows much promise, and although RPG's are certainly not my thing, I will certainly look forward to seeing a sequel (or edits =P)

SoraMegamanSonic responds:

Yeah, I'm still trying to make platformer games but... I suck.

Sorry for the music being loud and the soft sound effects... I'm still trying to balance them out.

I suck at making dialogue boxes...

Yeah, sorry for it being an easy fight. I'll make the next ones a bit harder.

A good concept...

You have a great concept; I like the idea. But the graphics are about as far from professional as it gets. Don't get mad and write a response in all caps; Fix it! It's not hard. Just make the circle around your mouse a real circle (that takes what, 4 clicks and a shift key?), make the text actual text instead of gradient-filled painted stuff, and make the destination a little more obvious; it currently looks like just another dead end.
I see the creativity in your maze layouts; I like where this is going. Just please make it look a little more professional. It will double your ratings, if not more.
I hope you find this useful. I don't mean to insult, and please don't take any of the criticism harshly; just work with what you've got. We're all telling you what people want to see in flash games. Arguing and yelling at us won't get you anywhere.
Thank you for your time.

Emby responds:

Well... I made this in 30 minutes, so what do you expect? I didn't care about graphics, gameplay, etc. I just wanted to quickly make a screamer. I could do alot better if I wanted to, of course. Like I said before, I could make this into a good game. But if you see Maze of DEATH 3, don't expect anything but a crappy game with a screamer in it.

Heh, I don't care for the low score, you actually put some though and time into your review, and that I do like. I can't learn from a review that just tells me that my Flash sucks, and whatnot. The reason I reply in caps, or AKA screaming, is because most of the time their reviews really suck... So anyway, thanks for the review!

Nostalgic

But where's the snowman?
I loved the feel, the detail that went into this, but the zoning camera was a bit nauseating at times, and the scenery got kinda dull after a while. I'm not sure how to fix this, but I'm sure you can come up with something.

ItsTheAshtray responds:

Hey, thanks for the review and good suggestions. The scenery is my biggest problem with it as well. I'm going to work on a sequel maybe for next month but probably for next year with levels, customizable riders, and just overall more polish.

I don't hate it, even if you do

but there's the issue of depth. The ball bounces off an invisible wall before it can even touch the back wall... check that, please

MonoFlauta responds:

Ok i will check it
