Love it. Amazing. Catchy and creative.

Vee responds:

thanks, but why only 4 stars?

Very cool, I wish it were longer. I could see this in an RPG, in the right setting.

I'd love to see the picture of your theremin/celest.

FaeryTaleAdventurer responds:

haha, the instrument isn't real, it's a synth. It definitely would be cool to see a celesta in real life that could sound like that, but I wouldn't know where to find one if it exiss!

Thanks for your review!

What basses?

They could use some boosting. Especially that section around 1:50, the "bass" leads are full of high frequency content, and don't really come across as bassy.

Hyperion666 responds:

its actually a lot of sub I can see it peeking while I was making it i don't want it to drown out everything else if you have big speakers like you would at a live show you don't want it to ruin the highs. listen to it in the car even that will let you hear the lows on here i cant fully pick it up atm but the equa was goin crazy not sure why yet tho
theres like 4 basses going on in here with 47 different sounds to create the the synths I have here

Sounds very video-gamey. Like a platformer, in a space station that you're invading before something triggers it to explode, and everyone is still calm.

I like it! I hope to hear more from you.

Why it doesn't have 5 stars: I'd like to hear more continuity and connection of different melodic ideas, as well as a structure to the different "vibes" the piece has (this will help make it loopable if you want it to be background music in a game, and will also help it have direction if you want it to be a standalone piece). The music feels like it's rambling out different ideas, and lacks structure. It feels lazy because of this.

LOD123 responds:

Thanks for your comments. Yeah, sometimes structure is the hardest part of writing a song, especially when you have a lot of ideas that you want to cram into a short piece. I'd like to apply a more specific structure to some of my future stuff, maybe edging more towards pop music. A formulaic verse-pre-chorus-verse-pre-chorus-middle-8-chorus sort of feel. I made this a while ago though and it was just like an electronic jam ;) Thank you for your kind comments and constructiveness, hopefully I'll release some more electro stuff in the future!

Nice!

Although I liked the orchestra better than the piano. Wonderful beat.

Assios responds:

Thanks :) You liked the orchestra version better? I'll maybe change back

Pretty good...

...But if you were to put a melody on top of the chords, develop the piece, and write something more than a musical idea, you've got a pretty good piece of music. At this point, I'd say you just started writing.

ShinyArmor responds:

ah, writing music, i actually don't write like others, if its there once it never leaves i never change my songs unless it really needs it, i don't want to make this longer, i just don't think it will go well, this is a good basic idea i think, but putting more into it will ruin it . . .

i dunno if others do that,
its just how i am

Thanks for the review!

How I hated this level...

You did a good job with it though. I enjoyed it, and it brought back memories. Painful ones =P

On a more serious note, The music fails to have, well, progression. It's all kinda the same game-show feel the whole time. I mean, it builds from the beginning, but it doesn't really change. It feels like and old kid's show or something. I've seen more variation in your other pieces, this is very linear.

DJPureSuffer responds:

Yeah, I really am not proud of my work here at all. Didn't put much effort in it at all.

Great!

You've inspired me. I would have used triplets instead of eighth and quarter note rhythms on the ascending stuff to mix it up (gosh, what are the odds anyone will know what I'm talking about?) Then again, I love mixing triplet and duple meter, and its not the easiest thing to groove to.

Let me start over. I love the sonorities you chose for this piece, I love how the mood changes yet the song maintains unity. I love the game and all its music as is, but there are a lot of crappy remixes out there. This is not one of them.

Keep it up!

DJPureSuffer responds:

Thanks for the review! I think I know what you're talking about with the triplets instead of quarter and eighth's. I can defiantly see that working in alot of places to mix up the song.

glad you liked it! :D

Interesting

I love the concept - playing the same theme at different tempos on different instruments. It just... doesn't sound very cool, you know? Maybe if you were to go away from the piano and try some different sounds... and maybe experiment with different keys too, but you may kick that idea...

I love the concept. It's creative. You just gotta push it a little more

lawprodigy responds:

thanks yeah i could of experimented on it more like you said added a few more things to it.

but it came out ok:)
